Pool Hall

No… they did not have pool tables in Colonial Isle of Wight, VA. But some guy was named Pool Hall… snickering.

There are numerous deeds in Isle of Wight that mention this Pool Hall and there seem to be numerous heirs. I have been curious about these folks for years… did he descend from this earlier Peter?

If anyone would care to sponsor my research… I am willing to take on the quest! All it will take is a few coffees.

Rack ’em up.

P.S… I think I saw a reference to a Thomas Poole (who is purported to be the grandfather of this Pool Hall…hence the name). laughing

Laughing! My paternal grandfather, Thomas Alexander Anderson, was a pool shark – for real! Abandoned the family in Clovis, NM, started a pool hall in Amarillo TX. He failed and followed his wife and son to California where he wound up in San Quentin prison. I still cannot find his death information – good thing you aren’t really an Anderson Marc – the men were all independent, stuborn gypsies (like me lol!).

I shot a pretty good stick when I was in the USAF… not good enough to make money but good enough not to lose that much. We always played for beers generally …which is to say I usually staggered home. Later, whilst in my “Oilfield Days”, I was in a bar in New Iberia, LA… a couple olde pharts at the bar offered to “line me out”. Not knowing what it meant, I said sure… it meant they would buy me (endless) tall glasses of whiskey and then they would bet for/against whoever I was playing. I don’t recall exactly how I got home that night. Cajuns have fun in South Louisiana.
